Musician
Spotlight
Lox and Vodka spotlights Caron Dale.
Caron Dale has been singing and performing Jewish music most of her life, beginning with a guest performance on a radio show at the age of 13. She formed a number of performing groups during high school in Stamford, CT and at the University of Connecticut, including East Of Eden. In 1983, having only lived in Washington DC for a short time, Caron was seeking a venue for her performance of Jewish and ethnic music. Along with Michael Nazaretz and Russell Foster, she formed Lox & Vodka. It was intended to be an outlet to share their combined love of Jewish and Russian based music. In a very short time, Lox & Vodka took on a life of its own.
“I am so honored to work with the incredibly high level of musicianship that comprises Lox & Vodka," Caron said in a recent interview. "We've performed at so many wonderful venues, running the full gammit of performances from President Clinton, Democratic and Republican members of the House and Senate, the Grand Opening of the MCI Center in Washington, DC and the Kennedy Center Artist in Residence. We've performed at Orthodox functions as well as gay and lesbian weddings. We've even performed at a nudist colony's reknowned folk festival. Being part of Lox & Vodka has been a true blessing for me."
Caron is also an Early Childhood Music Specialist. She formed her own company, Music on the Move, which uses children’s natural curiosity to ignite the imaginations of children through music while improving listening, memory, coordination, language and concentration skills. This increases a child's sense of joy and self confidence. M.O.M.'s (Music on the Move) programs are wonderful opportunities for every child, teacher and parent to participate, learn and have lots of fun! M.O.M. offers group classes, private lessons and performances including museums, libraries and elementary schools.
Prior to her foray into music as a full time performer/teacher, Caron was Member Service Director at Union Privilege, an arm of the AFL-CIO, responsible for the department that developed and marketed member benefit programs including: mutual funds, mortgages and travel. She was Manager for the Close-Up Foundation’s Program for Older Americans responsible for marketing a national program on political education for seniors. In addition, Caron was a Financial Services Specialist with AARP (American Association of Retired Persons) overseeing the marketing and management of a multi-billion dollar money market fund with 500,000 participants.
Caron is an Advisory Board Member for the University of Connecticut School of Family Studies, and founding member and Treasurer of the Early Childhood Music and Movement Association Greater Washington chapter.
